'tis the season to be tricksy

Christmas is the time for rice pudding, The Chipmunks album, watching It's a Wonderful Life/White Christmas, and most importantly, Holmes-esque sleuthing. Wrapped presents are simply puzzles waiting to be solved. You are given an item which you can not see, so you must employ the other four senses. Since Christmas is right around the corner, I have decided to enlist all of you to help me figure out what I am getting. #1 - This present is about 10" x 4". It is soft in the center and firm on the outsides and seems to be in the outline of a foot. It feels like furry slippers, but I am just not really the "gets furry slippers for Christmas" kind of guy. #2 - This present is the size of a ream of copy paper, and it weighs in at just under a kilo. It is a box with what sounds like paper and plastic that move around inside when it is shaken. #3 - This present is 10" x 8". It has no distinct shape, which typically puts it in the clothing family. But it is too large for shirt, too soft for a jacket and too small for a sweater. Plus, there are no buttons or zippers to be felt inside. Well, the clock is ticking. I only have about 80 hours to figure out what is inside these little bundles of joy, so please help me out and take a guess. You can leave your answers in the comments section. -b

Wow--no guesses yet! Being one of the snoopiest people in the universe--I have unwrapped and rewrapped gifts--I will gladly participate.
#1: This does sound suspiciously like slippers. Hobbit feet?
#2: I'm going with a boardgame.
#3: Perhaps a quilted hanging, or a sweatshirt?

Good luck snooping!

Ben, I don't know if there were kits for growing seamonkeys in the Pppines, but Emory Samuel White IV had one in 2nd grade.

Abby may have mentioned something about a manatee ('seacows') kit. Would have to be #2? But I think you have to have a bathtub to grow them.

ben, does ABBY know that you are trying to figure out your presents?? (a) if she doesn't know, you're gonna be in trouble and (b) if you REALLY want to know, i'm sure you can slip it out of its package and abby won't even notice... but don't tell her i told you to do it.

I heard about a Japanese musician lady who took a tape recorder, aimed the microphone at the starry sky overnight and used the tape to wrap the presents for her friends. Very cool and artsy. :)
